The Graveglia Valley Enrico Pelos General This valley is characterised by a quite rough scenery but which hides inside very interesting landscapes with olive woods, vineyards and woods. An almost unknown valley which represents for many people a true discovery. This valley remained for long with very few roads, that were later built thanks to the imposing copper and manganese mining activities. This is the Garibaldi valley with history and kitchen and agricultural tradition based on the production of some typical Ligurian wines such as “Vermentino” and “Bianchetta”. and the many restaurants offer an excellent local cuisine. You will also find great evidence of the past, such as the mediaeval villages in Cassagna, ancient summer pastures in the mountain and tower-houses. At Reppia you may visit, on request, the Mineral Museum, where you may see a collection of minerals which stands out for its renown geology, studied by international scientists. Don’t miss the typical itinerary inside the mine by the same train used by miners in the Gambatesa mining museum. (published on the web 6/4/2001)
