The Aveto Valley

Starting from the Trebbia valley you can reach Casoni and then into Aveto valley. From Cabanne proceed north-east on the s.s 586 passing Rezzoaglio and tum right to Santo Stefano d'Aveto, a summer and winter sports resort with good ski runs which cross large woods in the Regional nature park of Aveto park. This valley is part of  the park rich of natural wild habitat of particular interest with some lakes of glacial origins like in North Europe. beatiful sceneries are to be seen while walking near Penna mount, some of the best Liguria mpuntains landscapes. Probably of pre-Roman origin it became the most important village in the valley in the Middìe Ages. It then came under the dominion of some of the powerful Ligurian families the Malaspina, the Fieschis and the Dorias. From here you can also reach the Ligurian Mountains High Way for a view on all the valley and many interesting trekking itineraries. Going back, along the Aveto river you can go to the Scoglina pass, here you can either turn on the right and go to Barbagelata a typical mountain village or cross the pass and descend to Fontanabuona Valley. Ravioli and other specialities in typical restaurants.
